Fun Friday Photos…Volume 5

Today is grocery shopping day.  I think it’s another good day for some funny photos.  Today all of my photographs are of children.  Children really do make the most interesting subjects, don’t they?  Whatever they are doing in the photo, usually makes me smile.

"Peek-a-Boo"

This is our grandson, Caden, when he was a baby.  He loved to look at himself in this mirror, and he loved banging on the instruments!  This lighted, musical stage was one of his favorite baby toys, and he spent several happy hours in front of it..  I love this photo because Caden’s watching me in the mirror while I’m taking his picture.

"Desperate Housewife...in training"

This little cutie is one of the twins that I used to keep.  She loved dressing up!  I’ve never seen a toddler who loved dressing up like Jayla did.  She loved shoes the most!  Jayla’s mom had a box of children’s shoes that someone had given her.  The shoes were of various sizes.  Jayla loved clomping around the house in all kinds of shoes!

One day I saw Jayla wearing this feather boa, and she appeared to be vacuuming with the ball popper.  I just had to snap a photo!  It’s hard to believe that little Jayla is now a first grader!

"Walk a mile in daddy's shoes"

This little cutie is Jayla’s twin sister, believe it or not!  They don’t even look like sisters, much less twins!  Anyway, Mackenzie shared her sister’s love of shoes.  On this particular day, she was sportin’ her daddy’s boots.  Mackenzie was always a ”daddy’s girl”, while Jayla was definitely a “mama’s girl”.

"this project is boring"

This little sweetie pie was a student in one of our first grade classes.  It’s common for little ones to become tired after lunch, but they don’t usually fall asleep during a “fun” project.  She looked so precious, I just had to snap a photo–and then I had to wake her up.  She was making a ladybug, by the way.

"Gimme some!"

This is a picture of our little granddaughter, Madison.  Can you tell from this photo that she liked her first taste of ice cream???  Madison has always been a good eater.  She isn’t picky like a lot of children.  As she grows older, her tastes are changing, but she’s still a good eater.

One of her favorite things to eat is tuna, which she calls, “cuna”.  I love to hear her say, “I want some “cuna”!   Another favorite is Kit Kat bars.  She calls those, “Kitty cats”.

We’ve made it through another week!  Another hot, dry week.    We’re supposed to have a cooler weekend, which will be nice for outdoor activities.  By cooler, I mean highs in the mid seventies.  It’s been in the nineties all week!    I hope you all have a great Friday, and a great weekend.

Funny Photo Friday…

It’s time for another “Funny Photo Friday”.  I hope you don’t mind.  Today’s photos all have a common theme–Christmas!  It’s never too early to get into the holiday spirit, you know.

dueling flashlights

One Christmas, Ed and our son-in-law, Clint, both got lights for Christmas.  The two of them had a great time comparing their lights!  Does a larger light make you the bigger man?  The two had fun comparing “their beams”.

expensive toilet seat
I’ve written about this toilet seat before, but for those of you who may have missed it–this is one expensive toilet seat!  At the time I found it on eBay, I was decorating our “Coke-themed” game house, around Christmas of 2004.  I saw this hand painted Coke toilet seat, and I had to have it!  As often happens on eBay, I got into a bidding frenzy.  Sixty-nine dollars later, the seat was mine!  After paying that much for a toilet seat, I wasn’t about to let anyone’s behind sit on it!  It now hangs on the wall over the toilet–my reminder to always set a bidding limit!

say what???

This photo was taken of our granddaughter, Madison, during her first Christmas.  I look at it and laugh, because she looks like she’s had one drink too many!  She may have been wondering what in the world is wrong with these crazy people…as we put a silly Santa hat on her, and tried to make her smile!

So, how do you open your gifts?

We like to have fun at our house on Christmas!  No boring holidays around here!  Once upon a time, we put on oven mitts, crazy hats, and opened our gifts while some crazy song played in the background.  When the music stopped, we had to pass the gift to the next person.  Whoever unwrapped the gift while the music was still playing,  got to keep it.  I think the gift turned out to be a farting Santa!

Hey, look what I got!

The crazy thing about opening gifts at our house is…you never know what may be inside of the box!  It could be a lovely “after dinner roll” like the one Clint is showing off.  Did I mention that Clint was the recipient of the farting Santa, too?  Or it could be…

"Big Drawers"

a very large pair of pastel pink ladies panties that Ed’s daddy found at the dumpster one day, many years ago!  He thought they were “interesting” so he brought them home to show his wife!  We rewashed them, and began the family tradition of “passing the panties”.  Every Christmas, for over twenty-five years, someone gets the “Big Drawers” for a gift!  The lucky recipient keeps the panties for an entire year, then writes a note, attaches it to the top of the box (along with the rest of the notes from previous recipients), then passes the panties on to some unsuspecting person.  Jennifer is the owner of the panties for this year.  I wonder who the next lucky person will be???  I’ll be sure to let you know– after Christmas!

Fun Friday Photos…

I enjoyed sharing some of my “funny photos” with you last Friday, so today I’m going to do it again.  I hope you at least get a smile from some of these…

Did you know that my cat, Bobs, is so smart that she can actualy read???  Well, actually she’s not smart enough to read, but she has a love/hate relationship going on with this particular book!  The book is called “Peter Cottontail”, and it plays the song whenever the book is opened–and sometimes it plays when it’s closed!  Everytime the book plays that annoying electronic music,  Bobs goes wild!  She either claws at the cover of the book, or sits and stares at it!  Strange, but true.

Have you ever dressed your dog up for Halloween?  We have!  This is “Big Buddy”, aka “Gizmo”.  He belonged to my daughter several years ago–and she dressed him up as a clown once–in the pre-children days.  Big Buddy was always a good sport.  He was more well-behaved than most children that I know.  Sadly, Big Buddy became a victim of the “tainted dog food” scam a few years back, and is no longer with us.

Do you see this little pink, screaming, “bundle of joy”?  She replaced “Big Buddy”.  Life was much quieter living with the dog!  Of course, she is sweet and cuddly some of the time.  Unfortunately, she has her moments–her “Maddie Moments”, her “Jack Attacks” or what her mama usually refers to as  a “meltdown”.  This photo is old.  She’s almost five years old now!

Times have changed, but some things haven’t…Yeah!  She’s having a full-blown meltdown in this picture.  Did I mention that we have seen this face a lot over the past four years?!  Gotta’ love our little Maddie though.  Life just wouldn’t be the same without her!

We figured out at an early age that Maddie loves to eat!  The child lives for breakfast, lunch, and supper.  She’s not quite five yet, and she will already call “dibs” on certain foods in the refrigerator :)   In case you haven’t figured it out from the photo–let me tell you–Maddie hates to have her hair combed!  She hated it then, and she hates it now!

One of Maddie’s favorite pastimes is–watching television!  Yeah, we don’t want television to be a waste of time at our house, so we’re bringing her up watching “informative” television shows–like Fox News and  ”Glen Beck”!  Oh darn, his show went off the air…I guess we’ll just have to record  some episodes of “Hannity” for her!  We want her view of the world to be “fair and balanced”.

See this bumper sticker?  A few years back, on our son, Brad’s, 21st birthday, a co-worker played a joke on him, by putting this bumper sticker on Brad’s car…I wonder how many people read it before Brad discovered that it was on his car???  I thought it was sort of funny when I saw it!

Wanna’ know what Brad thought about his bumper sticker?  Just read the pendant that he’s holding, and you’ll know!  Among Brad’s  other many thoughtful birthday gifts was a “grow a girlfriend”.  Sorry I don’t have a photo of her to show you!  He placed her in water and she grew…and grew…and grew.

And this last photo…well, what can I say???   If you never hear from me again after today, it’s because the son in the photo killed me after he found out I put this photo on my blog… It was Christmas 2005, and we were all feeling a bit crazy!  It was just after our oldest son got engaged, and for Christmas we gave his bride-to-be a pair of pink panties that said “bride-to-be” on the front…and for some reason, her hubby-to-be felt compelled to try them on–and he did!

And on that note, I’ll say “have a great weekend, everyone”!  Smile!  It makes people wonder what you’re up to…
