A Dozen of My Random Thoughts…November 3

Here I am on another Wednesday– without “Lid’s” Random Dozen questions.  You know that I am a creature of habit, don’t you?  Therefore, I’m doing my own “random thing” today…

(1)  Wednesday is the day of my annual visit to the gynecologist!  Whoo Hoo!  I’ll be experiencing this while some of you are reading this  post.  What woman enjoys visiting her gynecologist?  Not me!  Don’t get me wrong–I love Dr. Barry to death, but visiting with him while wearing nothing more than a paper-thin gown, and having my feet above my head,  is not my idea of fun!  I’ve given birth to three children, had a hysterectomy, and this August marked 10 years that I have been Dr. Barry’s patient–but I don’t think I’ll ever get used to pelvic exams.

(2) After dragging out my tank tops last week, I have the heat back on this week.  What is up with all of that?  It’s no wonder everyone stays sick around here.  It’s November–time for cool weather to come around and stay for a while.  I remember a time when we could actually pack up our seasonal clothes.  These days my laundry is a mixture of tank tops and long sleeves…

(3)  Brad and Jenn spent Tuesday on the road.  They had to travel back to North Carolina for her post-op check up.  Nothing like traveling 14 hours in one day–for a check up!  Hopefully, this will be her last trip to North Carolina for anything cancer related!  Both are planning to be at work on Wednesday…

(4)  I’m trying to cut down on my consumption of sweet iced tea, but it’s not easy.  Food does not taste as good when it is followed by water!  At the moment, I am drinking half and half–one-half sweet tea mixed with one-half water.  Hopefully, I can work my way to 100% water–eventually!  Why am I doing this, you might ask?  In an effort to cut calories…my bathroom scale is moving in the wrong direction…

(5)  I haven’t had a good night’s sleep in several nights.  Bobs the cat has “misbehaved” (sprayed), so she’s has been restricted to the yard again.  Consequently, she spends the entire night clawing at my bedroom door…More and more, I find myself asking “Why did I tame this feral cat and bring her home with me, and why is she doing this after 3 years?”

(6)  It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…everywhere!  Why is it, that Thanksgiving is sort of over-looked by so many people?  My daughter even made the comment “I’m ready to put up my Christmas tree.”  No, no, no…let’s give thanks first, please!

(7)   Speaking of Christmas, I don’t decorate for it before Thanksgiving, but I do shop early!  I have already purchased the majority of my gifts.  Most of the gifts that I purchase are for the grandchildren.  All of the adults in the family purchase two adult gifts each, we put them in a pile, then play a game with them.  Everyone goes home with two gifts each-and we have lots of fun.

(8) I haven’t been enjoying “Dancing With The Stars” as much this season as I have in the past seaons.  I don’t know if it’s the dancers or if I’m just tiring of the show–maybe  it’s a bit of both.  I usually call in and vote, but not this year.  Nobody has really captured my heart.  I’m proud of how far Bristol Palin has come.  She’s no Ginger Rogers, but she has progressed quite a ways since that first episode!  What’s next?  Dancing on Ice???

(9)  Has anyone else’s health insurance premiums gone up, while the coverage went down?  What’s up with that?   In addition to insurance premiums going up…pay raises are going down.  Nothing else is going down though–except the amount of food in a box or bag–for the same price as before!  Can those snack-sized candy bars get any smaller(?)–and you get less of them, too.  So many food  packages are smaller–or have less content inside.

(10)  I’ve been trying to learn how to post links in my blogs without typing out the entire URL.  I finally asked my blogfriend Joyce to tell me how to do it, and she graciously told me.  Thanks, Joyce!!!  I’d been trying to figure out how to do this for quite a while.  I had no idea it was so easy to do!   Hey, you really can teach an old dog new tricks!   By the way…try out my link and check out Joyce’s blog.  She has a way with words, and I love her blog.

(11)  It’s election evening as I am finishing this post up.  My husband and I have been babysitting our grandson,  so our son and his wife could go and vote.  They just returned from voting.  They were the last two people to get to vote before the poll closed.  That was cutting it close!  I was so afraid that they wouldn’t make it because Christina was out of town until late.  I’m sad that Brad was gone and didn’t get to vote…he missed his chance to fill out an absentee ballot, but he’s normally a faithful voter.

(12)  Speaking of voting–I voted for the first time in today’s election.  I was nervous about it, but it was a piece of cake.  My husband got off early so we beat the crowds.  We had to wait in line, but only for about 15 or 20 minutes.  Thanks to Brad’s detailed description of how to use the voting machines (he’s worked at the polls before), I didn’t have any problems at all!  I voted, got my  “I’m a Georgia voter” sticker, and came home.  It only took me 56 years to get this sticker…and I am proud of it!

Whew…that’s  my Random Dozen thoughts for this Wednesday–finally!  Coming up with a dozen random thoughts is a lot harder than I thought it would be… I may have to start doing a Random half-dozen!  I sure do miss “Lid”…Have a great day everyone–you already know where I’ll be 😦

  1. I am addicted to sweet tea…good luck on the changeover to water. I too need to make the switch, but not sure I have the willpower to do so!

I don’t think any woman, any age ever gets used to their annual gyn exam. Such a not fun moment each year! Hope all goes well for you!

Prices on EVERYTHING seem to be getting higher and higher and we seem to get much less for the higher prices. Hoping some changes will be in our near future!

I enjoy your blog…thanks for sharing with us!

  2. I did a random today too…I was thinking of making a Mr. Linky to everyones own random but I’m not sure if people can keep that up. It is a lot of random to come up with in a week which is why the questions were nice. Maybe I could do a combo-a few questions and then a few of your own random thoughts. I need to think about it.

I like your Christmas gift game-sounds like fun. And I’m glad Jen is doing well! Have a nice day and thanks for the link love : )

  3. We are like female appointment sisters, hahaha, I am getting a mammogram today! I don’t know which is worse, putting your bare bottom in your doctors face or having your breast squeezed like a pancake by a strange woman.

Oh well, this is the life of a woman.

  4. Enjoyed your post! And so proud of you that you voted this year! WTG! I too felt it was kind of a chore to come up with 12 random thoughts. And that says alot for someone that likes to talk as much as I do. lolol. Hope all goes well with your check up.
    until next time… nel

  5. Miss Kathy, I swear this is true. You asked, “What’s next? Dancing on Ice?” Well, on November 22nd, ABC kicks off a new show called “Skating with the Stars” at 9:00 pm. I thought I saw something about it about a week ago, and when you made that comment, I had to Google it. What will they come up with next? LOL

    • Cindy, I saw that Dancing on Ice is coming to television, too. That should be quite interesting to watch…and a good way to get hurt!

  6. Ya did great with your random thoughts and I think these are kinda more fun anyways 🙂

Wild cats will always be wild at heart, I have found that out the hard way too.

I can’t really put away seasonal clothes here either, especially for the kids, but sometimes I just down size one seasonal type over the other.

I posted on the rooster in case you are interested :0)

  7. I love Joyce´s blog too! She´s a sweetie. Glad she was able to teach you the linky trick.
I love that Christmas gift game. We do it too.
I love your random dozen, maybe I´ll play along next Wednesday.
