Meet Me On Monday…To Talk About Snakes

Happy Monday, everybody!  Are you awake?  I’m still trying to adjust to the time change here…I don’t like it when I lose an hour of my weekend 😦   Short weekend or not,  it’s time to join Java for “Meet Me On Monday”once again.  It’s our chance to get to know each other a little better–and it’s fun!

Here are Java’s questions:

1. Do you have a fireplace in your home?  Yes, we have an electric fireplace, that’s part of our  television stand.  We got it right before Christmas, and if you remember, my husband and son damaged the top of it while assembling the thing, so my husband had to order a replacement top!

2. Can you drive a stick shift?  Yes, I can drive one, but not very well.  I can take off okay, and shift through the gears, but I have a hard time down shifting, and slowing down.  I DO NOT enjoy driving a stick shift!

3. How many computers are in your home?  We have two computers, a desk top and a lap top, and I use both of them every day.

4. Are your taxes done yet? Do you do them yourself?  Yes, our taxes are done, and we are expecting a refund 🙂  My husband does our taxes every year.

5. What is your favorite meal of the day?  My favorite meal of the day is the evening meal, known here in the south as “supper”.  This is because it’s also our largest meal of the day.  Breakfast is usually cereal, and lunch is usually a sandwich.  I usually cook meat and vegetables for supper.

About those snakes…this past weekend happened to be the weekend of the  44 th annual Rattlesnake Roundup in Claxton, Georgia.  The Rattlesnake Roundup consists of a parade, and two days of arts, crafts, and entertainment–and lots and lots of rattlesnakes!  I DO NOT like snakes of any kind, but the idea behind the roundup is to help control the rattlesnake population, and to use the snake’s venom to make anti-venom, so it’s all for a good cause.   The weather couldn’t have been more perfect for the occasion!   Sunny, and temperatures in the low to mid seventies!  People turned out in droves!

granddaughter, Madison, dancing at the festival

We hadn’t attended the roundup festivities in several years, but we attended did this year because our granddaughter participated in the parade, and her dance class provided entertainment at the festival.  I can’t believe how fast she’s growing up, and we enjoyed watching her having fun!

Uh oh!  I almost forgot to post that my blogiversyary give away is still going on, if you’d like to enter.  Just let me know you’d like to participate.  The giveaway is for a dozen of my favorite things, including several Bath and Bodyworks products!  If you’d like the complete list, click HERE.

  1. I love a good cooked breakfast best and Madison is beautiful x

  2. Well, well…a rattlesnake round-up is something I’d never heard of before, but makes perfectly good sense do participate in….as long as no one gets bitten.
Would love to have you check out my blog and follow

  3. I wish my taxes were done…. *sigh*

I played, too! Hope you can visit! 😀

  4. I extremely dislike driving a stick shift mostly because I freak out if people get too close behind me if I have to stop on a hill or slope. Scary.

My taxes are done and I already have my money. 🙂

Madison must have been adorable to watch!

  5. It’s always nice to get a tax refund!
    Have a great week!

  6. Hello! I’m stopping by for Meet Me On Monday! Your granddaughter is completely adorable!! I had to laugh when you said “known here in the South as supper.” My grandparents – originally from northern Minnesota and Wisconsin also called the evening meal supper, and lunch was always called “dinner.”

Very nice to “meet” you! I hope you will have time to stop by my “house” too! Happy Monday!

  7. So how many snakes do they end up with?

  8. Madison looks like she is a natural! Glad you made it safely through the rattlesnake roundup!

  9. Madison looks adorable in her dancing outfit. Have a nice week. 😀

  10. Sweet picture of your granddaughter dancing. I like that fireplace of yours, it’s so different. I can drive stick shift. Our taxes are not done yet, my husband does them and we will be getting money back since we took on a new mortgage 4 years ago!! Hope you have a wonderful week.

  11. Your granddaughter is so cute!
Stopping by from Meet Me On Monday… yes, it is Saturday, what can I say?
