Birthday Wishes For One, Prayers For Another…

Let me begin by wishing our oldest son, Brett, who sent me to the hospital in labor, on Mother’s Day, twenty-nine years ago, A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!  I hope it’s his best birthday ever.

I also hope he has a sense of humor today, because I’ve sent him a couple of funny Ecards, courtesy of JibJab.  Brett has two modes–either very serious or very funny, not much in between.  Nobody can make me laugh more than Brett, when he is being humorous!  I hope that my funny cards make him laugh, as well.

Brett’s hard at work today, keeping those computers running smoothly at a nearby university!  Everybody loves the “Computer Guy”, including me!  We’ll be joining him and his family for a little birthday celebration later this evening.  I can’t wait to meet his family’s new kitten, too!

In other news, Brad and Jennifer are on the road again today.  It seems the two of them are always on the road, commuting to work.  It’s one of the pitfalls of living on the far side of nowhere.  Today, however, the couple is headed on a seven hour drive to North Carolina for Jennifer’s doctor appointment.  I’m praying that the Lord will keep them safe as they travel, and that Jennifer’s news will be good.

I didn’t want to mention it before, but Jennifer’s last test, in February, (follow-up for cervical cancer) came back abnormal.  We’re not quite sure what that means.  Hopefully, the test results are just a “fluke”, and everything will be okay today.  If not, then I guess the doctor will advise her about what needs to be done.  I’m praying for good news.  Their wedding is just over six weeks away… not a good time for any bad news.

Speaking of the wedding getting closer…I will be blogging and visiting blogs a little less during the next few weeks.  I’m beginning to have trouble getting everything done that needs to be done.  I seem to be burning the candle at both ends lately.  I still have to finish getting preparations done for Brad and Jennifer’s wedding rehearsal supper.

Speaking of burning the candle at both ends, I’m also dealing with a major hormone imbalance at the moment!  I’ve been taking Synthroid (thyroid medication)  since Thanksgiving.  I’m having major problems getting the dosage adjusted.  Apparently, my thyroid hasn’t worked in quite a while, and my body doesn’t know what to do with all those extra hormones!  If you’ve ever had a hormone imbalance, then you know that it’s not fun!  It’s no fun for the people around me either.  Hot flashes, mood swings, no sleep, nervous jitters, heart palpitations, headaches…Doesn’t that sound like fun?  Fortunately, I’m blessed with an understanding family.

Madison on last week's field trip

I’m a bit melancholy that this is granddaughter, Madison’s, last week of nursery school.  She’s had such a great year, and I hate to see it end.  She’s been involved in so many fun activities!  She’s also become so independent, and has learned so much this year.  I’m very proud of her, and I’m excited about her closing ceremony on Thursday evening.  It seems like the grandchildren are growing up faster than their parents did!  Perhaps it’s because I’m not the one doing the parenting!

I’m going to wrap this post up now, and jump into some mundane household chores…like stripping the beds and cleaning the bathroom!  Thank goodness, I only have one bathroom to clean these days.  Have a great Tuesday!  As for me, I’ll be scrubbing, washing, and having all sorts of “fun”!

  1. Praying for good news for Jennifer and that you can get the dosage of your Synthroid regulated. Madison is such a sweetie! You’re right – I do believe that our grandkids grow up faster than our kids did … my oldest grandson is 9!! And getting to be almost as tall as I am!! How is that possible! Have a terrific Tuesday.

  2. Brad and Jennifer are on my prayer list…I pray for a good report..they need a break…
    Happy Birthday to Brett!
Yes, Grands are growing up way too fast…two of mine have Birthdays this month: the oldest will be 17 and Wonder Boy will be 13….I provided child care for him when he was a wee one so we have a special bond…it just doesn’t seem possible that he is a teen already….time is passing too swiftly for me.
As for the hormone imbalance: been there, done that and it ain’t fun for nobody…
I hope your week is productive but that you take time for yourself…

  3. Praying she gets an excellent report! Happy Mother’s Day to you!

  4. Add my prayers to the many for Jennifer’s next step to be an easy fix. She sounds like a wonderful young woman. She needs a break. God Bless you all and hang in there on those wedding plans. It will all be beautiful and perfect.

  5. Happy Birthday, Brett !!! 😛

Take plenty of pictures at Madison’s “graduation” Thursday night. It’s hard to believe she’s growing up so fast. 😀

I hope you get your medicine figured out soon. I know that feeling this way isn’t fun…especially when you’ve got so much going on. 😦

I just said a prayer for Jennifer. Her and Brad are constants on my Prayer List. She’s been through enough hardship to last a lifetime. I thought of her Sunday since it was Mother’s Day. I’m sure her mother was on her mind. She deserves good things to happen now and I hope that they will. I’ve never met her, but she seems like an amazing young lady. 😐

    And finally…

I know you’ve got alot going on, but don’t forget to take a little Kathy Time from time to time. 😀

  6. Praying for good news for Brad and Jennifer.

  7. Happy Birthday to Brett, hope he has a fun day!
Keeping Jennifer in my prayers. Also keeping you in my prayers, sorry for the imbalance going on. Take all the time you need, you have so much going on. We will be here when you get back. ((HUGS))

  8. I’m so hoping, for all of you, that Jennifer get’s good news. That’s a lot to handle on such young shoulders.

Thanks so much for joining the Tuesday Train – hope to see you there again real soon

  9. I’m not sure exactly why but this website is loading incredibly slow for me. Is anyone else having this problem or is it a problem on my end? I’ll check back later on
and see if the problem still exists.
