Special Person, Special Day…

I’ve known this special person since I was just a child–probably five or six years old.

She came into my life as “the babysitter”.

I loved her because she showered me with attention.  She colored,  and played games with me.

It turns out I wasn’t the only one who loved her.

My older brother fell for her, as well.

They did make a lovely couple together back then, didn’t they?

They still make a  lovely couple today!

The two of them married when I was just nine years old–and that was a long, long time ago.

My former babysitter became my sister-in-law, and  my friend during the years that followed.

We raised our daughters at the same time, they’re less than two years apart in age.

Now we’re both grandmothers of three–two boys and a girl.

We share so many happy  memories between us from over the years. (including her husband’s/my brother’s ordination to become a pastor.)

Today is her birthday.

And though we are miles apart today, I’m thinking about her and wishing her a very happy birthday that’s filled with many (more) happy memories.

Happy birthday to the best babysitter/sister-in-law/ girlfriend a person could ever have!

  1. What a nice tribute to your babysitter/SIL/friend. I hope she has a great day as well. They got married when you 9 but your children are the same age???? OK, either they waited a long time, you had kids very early……

  2. Sweet!

  3. I had the same thought as Lynn. They waited for you to grow up so your children could play together. And look at you Miss… with your hip huggers on. How nice to have such a friendship with your SIL. Too bad you’re far apart.

  4. What a sweet story. Happy Birthday to your SIL!

  5. A wonderful happy birthday post! Good memories and wishing many more good memories shared in the future for you all!

  6. How sweet to remember her like this. I’m so glad that y’all have such a nice relationship. Happy Belated Birthday to her. 🙂
